There is no reason to assume this piece was written for organ. The score used, although edited for organ, carries lyrics in Latin.

Did you notice that the last chord of this piece can hardly be called a chord at all? It consists of D's only. No third, no fifth, no beating. If you play this in 12 tone equal temperament, the final chord is an anti-climax, following major and minor triads, which beat considerably in 12 tone equal temperament:
